Alex Munro To Recieve Stevens Award
Alex Munro, the executive director of the Thaddeus Stevens Foundation, will
receive the Thaddeus Stevens Award for promoting the memory of the Great
Commoner at the dinner at Lombardo’s Restaurant on April 3. (See other article

Munro, who oversees the alumni association for the Stevens College of
Technology, was instrumental in designing and raising the $162,000 for the first-ever
Stevens statue on the college’s campus.
In previous years, the Society has given the award to Hans Trefousse, who wrote a
Stevens biography, Beverly Palmer, who collected Stevens’s papers, William
Griscom, president of the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, Donald Rhoads,
the author of the play about Thaddeus Stevens, Brad Hoch, the author of a book
about Stevens’s life in Gettysburg, and Garrett Epps, who wrote about Thaddeus
Stevens’s role in framing the Fourteenth Amendment.
