Calendar of Events:

December 4 & 5, 2020 -- Special two day celebration of the day Thaddeus Stevens and Edward McPherson banned ex-Confederates from Congress, setting the stage for the Second Founding of America.

Friday, December 4, noon to 1: 30 -- Valentine Hall, 61 Seminary Ridge, on the campus of the Gettysburg Seminary. Entrance is in the rear of the building. There will be a short Society business meeting and a light lunch. There will be a tour of the nearby Seminary museum to see Thaddeus Stevens artifacts. A voluntary $15 donation will be requested to cover costs.

 

Friday, December 4,  6 to 9 p.m. -- Fundraising dinner at the Farnsworth House at 401 Baltimore Street, Gettysburg.  A social hour will be from 6 to 7 p.m. and then dinner and talk by Fergus Brodewich. Cost is $100 per person. Reservation can be made by emailing contact@thaddeusstevenssociety.com  Please also let us know if you want a room at the nearby Best Western hotel for the night at the rate of $85.

 

Saturday,, December 5, 10 a.m. to Noon -- 27 E. Stevens Street, a short walk from the Gettysburg Hotel. We will see the Society’s collection of Stevens artifacts, collected during the last 21 years. We will then tour the nearby Stevens Zone, which includes the McPherson House, Stevens Hall and Pennsylvania Hall. The event is free to members and supporters

 

Saturday, December 5, 2 p.m. -- Caledonia State Park, site of Stevens's iron mill, 14 miles west of Gettysburg at the intersection of Route 30 and 233. Participants must provide their own transportation. Starting at the parking lot, we will see an exhibit about the iron mill operation and then we will go over to the blacksmith shop, the last remaining building of the complex.
